MEMBERS OF THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY OF THE DAVIS DIVISION OF THE ACADEMIC SENATE Re:
October 27 Meeting Dear
Colleagues, The
call for the first regular meeting of the Davis Division of the Representative
Assembly for the 2003-2004 academic year is attached. The meeting is scheduled for October 27, 3:00-5:00 PM in the MUII
room of the Memorial Union. The call is
also posted on http://academicsenate.ucdavis.edu/repassembly.htm. A paper copy of the agenda is available upon
request from the Academic Senate Office in 301 Voorhies Hall (752-2231). Although
it is customary for the first regular meeting of the Representative Assembly of
the academic year to hear the perspectives of the new student leaders, neither
the President of ASUCD nor the Chair of the Graduate Student Association are
able to attend the meeting today because of schedule conflicts. Jonathan Karpel, Chair of the GSA, has sent
a written comment that is included in the call. Several
standing committees are required to file their annual reports for presentation
at this meeting; those reports are appended to the meeting call. I want to call
your attention to the annual reports of the Committee on Academic Personnel-the
Committee on Academic Personnel: Oversight Committee and the Committee on
Academic Personnel: Appellate Committee.
The reports contain details of CAP actions for 2002-2003. Remember that the Assembly approved the
organizational change in the Committee on Academic Personnel at its October 21,
2002 meeting, and the report presented here from the Committee on Academic
Personnel: Appellate Committee is the first official report of that
committee. There
is one request for a Bylaw Revision [Davis Division Bylaw 88. Public Service. (B) (2) (c)] from the
Committee on Public Service to present the recipients of the Distinguished
Scholarly Outreach Award at a regular meeting of the Representative Assembly
during the late winter or spring term.
This revision will give the committee additional time during the
academic year to select the award recipients.
The
complete agenda package is being sent to departmental, at-large and ex-officio
members of the Representative Assembly and to department chairs. Please check the membership list included
with the meeting call to determine whether you are a member of the
Assembly. All members are asked to
attend meetings to enable the Assembly to accomplish its business. The meeting
will start at 3:00; this is an unusually light meeting agenda and the meeting
should end before 5:00 PM. The sign-in
sheet will be available starting 2:45.
It is important that any departmental representatives who are unable to
attend ask their first or second alternate to attend in their place. Sincerely, Bruce
R. Madewell, Chair Academic
Senate, Davis Division |
