EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE ELECTION FOR 2000-01
On May 5, 2000 the ballots for the Executive
Committee Election for 2000-2001 were counted for individuals nominated to fill
Academic Senate and Academic Federation vacancies beginning July1, 2000.
The Rules and Jurisdiction Committee reports
the results as follows:
Academic Senate Candidates Nominated for Service:
Human Sciences
James Chalfant = 37
Lindsay H. Allen = 89
Lawrence V. Harper = 47Environmental Sciences
Fumio Matsumura = 80
Kyaw Tha Paw U = 91
The new ACADEMIC SENATE members are Lindsay H. Allen
and Kyaw Tha Paw U.
Academic Federation Candidates Nominated for Service:
Human Sciences
Carl K. Winter = 56
Karen Klonsky = 52
The new ACADEMIC FEDERATION member is Carl K. Winter.
MEMBERSHIP CHANGES - ACADEMIC SENATE AND ACADEMIC
FEDERATION -
A copy of the changes to the 1999-00 Membership List
were distributed to Department Chairs/Directors and MSO/PSA's of each department
of the college in May. Verification was made by the departments during the spring
quarter. The Rules and Jurisdiction Committee will supply a copy to any Academic
Senate and Academic Federation member who wishes to receive one.
PROPOSED REVISIONS TO THE BY-LAWS & REGULATIONS
The committee presents the following Legislation
for consideration of the Academic Senate of the College of Agricultural and
Environmental Sciences and the Academic Federation of the Division of Agriculture
and Natural Resources. The Executive committee has approved the revisions.
Modification of Section 19. Executive Committee:
"The eight Academic Senate members and
the four Academic Federation members serve three-year terms. The Divisions of
Human and Environmental Sciences are each represented by two of the eight Academic
Senate members and by one of the four Academic Federation members. The Division
of Agricultural Sciences is represented by four of the eight Academic Senate
members and by two of the four Academic Federation members."
Additional Charge for the Undergraduate Major
and Courses Subcommittee under By-law 21. (D):
"To manage enrollment and maintain quality,
a major should invoke a minimum GPA for a defined set of preparatory courses
(or UCD equivalents) for entrance into the major. The Undergraduate Majors and
Courses Subcommittee will have the authority to approve the criteria proposed
by any major within the college."
Modification of Part I. Requirements for the Bachelor
of Science Degree, Section 53 (E):
"Satisfactory fulfillment of the English
Composition requirement. This requirement can be fulfilled by satisfying one
of the two following options:
(1) "Take two courses emphasizing written expression or one course emphasizing written expression and one course emphasizing oral expression.
(a) one course may be selected from English 1, 3, 18, 19, 101, 102 A - G or 104 A - F (courses with primary emphasis on writing skills)."
The following majors should be changed to reflect the above changes:
