THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSEMBLY
Davis Division, Academic Senate
The primary responsibility of the Distinguished Teaching Awards Committee is to oversee the annual awards for distinguished teaching. Following normal procedure, we issued the call for nominations in the Fall Quarter. Twelve nominations were received in January, of which seven were selected for full consideration. Three of the finalists were chosen as the 2001-02 winners in our May meeting. The three winners will be revealed in this meeting today.
The DTA Committee has also begun implementation of the new award for Outstanding Graduate Mentor. The DTA committee has selected criteria for choosing a mentor candidate once yearly, and will announce the competition to begin this Spring Quarter. We expect to use a process similar to the DTA award, which implies that the first mentoring award winner will be selected in the Fall Quarter of 2001.
Respectfully submitted,
