2000-01 ANNUAL REPORT
COMMITTEE ON STUDENT-FACULTY
RELATIONSHIPS
TO: The
Representative Assembly of the Davis Division of the Academic Senate
During the past year, the Committee considered cases
involving disputes between students and faculty and discussed policy issues
related to student-faculty relationships.
¨ Complaint from a student
regarding a course grade and possible discrimination. After careful review of the student's grievance, the Committee
concluded the case was outside its jurisdiction and referred it to Graduate
Studies for evaluation.
¨ Complaint from a student
regarding a course grade. After
thoughtful research, review, and deliberations, the Committee found what
appeared to be a procedural error in the calculation of the final grade. The Committee recommended that the
instructor petition to change the student's grade.
¨ Complaint from a student
regarding a course grade. The case is
still under review.
¨ Complaint from a student
regarding a course grade and unfair treatment by the instructor. The case is still under review.
The Committee continues to work closely with Student
Judicial Affairs, the Committee on Grade Changes, and the very able and
dedicated staff in the Academic Senate office, particularly, Kathy von
Rummelhoff.
