2000-01 ANNUAL REPORT

 COMMITTEE ON STUDENT-FACULTY RELATIONSHIPS

TO:       The Representative Assembly of the Davis Division of the Academic Senate

During the past year, the Committee considered cases involving disputes between students and faculty and discussed policy issues related to student-faculty relationships.

¨       Complaint from a student regarding a course grade and possible discrimination.  After careful review of the student's grievance, the Committee concluded the case was outside its jurisdiction and referred it to Graduate Studies for evaluation.

¨       Complaint from a student regarding a course grade.  After thoughtful research, review, and deliberations, the Committee found what appeared to be a procedural error in the calculation of the final grade.  The Committee recommended that the instructor petition to change the student's grade.

¨       Complaint from a student regarding a course grade.  The case is still under review.

¨       Complaint from a student regarding a course grade and unfair treatment by the instructor.  The case is still under review.

The Committee continues to work closely with Student Judicial Affairs, the Committee on Grade Changes, and the very able and dedicated staff in the Academic Senate office, particularly, Kathy von Rummelhoff.
