ANNUAL REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON COMMITTEES

 

 

TO: The Representative Assembly of the Davis Division of the Academic Senate

 

In accordance with Bylaws 11, 12, and 13 of the Davis Division, we report the appointment of the following officers of the Davis Division for the academic year

2002-2003:

 

Chair: Bruce R. Madewell

Vice Chair: Judith S. Stern

Secretary: Kyaw Tha Paw U

 

 

In accordance with Bylaw 29(C) of the Davis Division, we report for confirmation the following appointments to standing committees for the academic year 2003-2004. In accordance with Bylaw 40(H), each individual who has been appointed to a standing committee has either volunteered for the post, or has consented to serve after having been contacted by a member of the Committee on Committees. In making these appointments we have taken into account all information available to the Senate office on forthcoming sabbatical and special leaves. In the event that changing circumstances make it impossible for an appointee to serve on a committee to which he/she has been appointed, the Academic Senate office should be informed immediately so that a substitute appointment can be made.

Since the last report to the Representative Assembly (February 19, 2003), the committee also filled the following vacancies and responded to the following requests:

 

Appointed Gabrielle Nevitt as Chair of the Committee on Affirmative Action and Diversity for Spring quarter, replacing Michele Praeger.

 

Appointed Elizabeth Constable as Chair of the Faculty Welfare Committee for Spring quarter, replacing John Oakley

 

Appointed  Martha Macri to the General Education Committee of the Undergraduate Council, for Spring quarter, replacing Peter Chesson

 

Provided nominations to Chair Madewell to transmit to Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor Provost for her consideration in appointing an Academic Advisory Group:  UC Sacramento Center

 

 Other business:

  1. The Call for Nominations for Divisional Representatives to the Assembly (systemwide) resulted in zero nominations, 4 are needed.  The Committee is in the process of contacting faculty members to serve in this capacity. 
  2. The Committee spent time discussing the need for greater recognition of service

in the academic merit process.

  1. Provided nominations to Universitywide Committee on Committees for

      members of the Davis Division to serve on Universitywide committees.
